Senior Azure Cloud Engineer

About the role
We’re working with an established technology consultancy that builds and supports cloud platforms for enterprise clients in regulated, complex environments. They’re looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer who knows Microsoft Azure inside out and understands how modern applications actually run in the cloud.
This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable moving across infrastructure, security, networking, and platform services, while also working alongside development teams on migrations, modernization, resilience, and scaling. You’ll help build secure, well governed Azure environments and improve how the business operates in the cloud.
What you’ll do
• Design, build, and support Azure environments aligned to best practice, including landing zones and Hub-and-Spoke network architectures
• Configure and manage core networking: VNets, NSGs, route tables, VPN/ExpressRoute, private endpoints, and DNS
• Apply governance using management groups, Azure Policy, RBAC, resource locks, and tagging standards
• Manage identity and security through Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, PIM, Key Vault, and least privilege access
• Work across Azure compute, data, and platform services (VMs, App Services, AKS, Functions, Storage, SQL, Cosmos DB, Monitor, Backup, Site Recovery)
• Design resilient, highly available architectures and support cost optimization
• Partner with development teams on cloud migrations and modernization, including monoliths, microservices, event-driven systems, and APIs
What you’ll bring
• 5+ years in cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure experience across networking, IAM, security, landing zones, and governance
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM)
• CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes
• Solid troubleshooting and operational support skills
Nice to have
• Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
• Hybrid cloud experience, and exposure to AWS or GCP
• Well-Architected Framework reviews and disaster recovery experience
• Microsoft Azure certifications (Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, or Security Engineer Associate) and Terraform Associate
