We’re working with an established logistics business, and they’re looking for a Data Scientist (Supply Chain Modeller) to use data analysis, modelling and simulation to solve complex supply-chain problems and support smarter decisions for a digital supply chain.
What you’ll do
• Work with the business to identify supply-chain optimisation opportunities with measurable value
• Guide project scoping, define problem statements, and lead data analysis and solution design
• Build, maintain and run supply-chain network models (e.g. Greenfield analysis, multi-echelon optimisation) and what-if simulations
• Work with data and software teams to deploy robust, scalable solutions
• Apply a range of statistical and machine-learning modelling techniques, and perform sophisticated data preparation
• Communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences through data visualisation
What you’ll bring
• A relevant degree in Operations Research, Mathematical Science, Engineering or similar
• 3 years’ experience in data analysis, data science or network modelling
• Experience in a supply-chain, logistics, retail and project environment
• Experience in mathematical model development and business requirement specifications
• Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery (or similar), Cloud SQL, SQL, Python and data-science toolkits
• Advanced MS Office (especially Excel) and Google Workspace
• A valid driver’s licence and own transport (for weekly client travel)
Advantageous
• Network-optimisation software (e.g. Optilogic, Coupa/Llamasoft)
• Agile methodologies
Working model
Hybrid, based in Cape Town, with some client-site days.
