Fire Engineer (Building Services)

We’re working with an established consulting engineering firm, and they’re looking for a Fire Engineer (building services) to join their Cape Town team.

You’ll develop fire-safety and fire-compliance designs for multi-disciplinary construction projects across South Africa and abroad, managing projects from small to large as part of the fire design team.

What you’ll do
• Develop fire-safety and fire-compliance designs for construction projects
• Apply SANS deemed-to-satisfy and rational fire-safety design — firefighting equipment, extraction, stair-pressurisation and sprinkler systems
• Manage small to medium projects with limited guidance, and contribute to larger projects
• Represent the firm in client meetings, site meetings and surveys
• Assist with tender documentation and general project-management administration

What you’ll bring
• A BTech / BEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fire engineering within building services, including SANS fire-safety design
• Fluent in both English and Afrikaans — you’ll work bilingually with clients and colleagues
• ECSA registration, or a keenness to apply for and obtain it
• Strong MS Word and Excel, and excellent written and verbal communication

Advantageous
• Experience with thermal modelling
