Fraud Manager

We’re working with an established payments company, and they’re looking for a Fraud Manager to take full ownership of the fraud function, protecting the business, its partners and their customers from financial crime.

Working at both strategic and operational levels, you’ll ensure fraud risks are managed effectively across a multi-channel payment environment, with strong accountability, analytical thinking and alignment to South African regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do
• Establish and drive the enterprise fraud-risk strategy and fraud rules
• Own fraud governance, policies, procedures and internal controls
• Oversee real-time transaction monitoring, alert triage, detection systems and rules engines across all channels
• Lead complex fraud investigations and manage escalations
• Report on fraud trends, losses, risks and overall fraud posture
• Assess fraud risk across new products, partnerships and channel integrations
• Manage relationships with fraud-technology vendors, card schemes and external parties, and liaise with law enforcement and industry bodies
• Build and lead a team of fraud analysts and investigators, ensuring compliance with FICA, SARB and card-scheme requirements

What you’ll bring
• A relevant degree, and 5–8 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience in payments, fintech, PSP or payment-aggregator environments (preferred); card-environment banking experience also considered
• Experience with transaction-monitoring tools, fraud platforms or rules engines
• A good understanding of fraud typologies, detection methodologies and internal controls
• Fluent business English, and your own reliable transport

Advantageous
• CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)
• Familiarity with the SARB PSP regulatory framework
• Experience with AI/ML-based fraud-detection tools, and PayFac or card-scheme rules
