We’re working with an established retail business, and they’re looking for a Functional Tester to help ensure the quality and reliability of the software behind its operations.

You’ll own manual and static testing across the development lifecycle — writing and executing test cases, tracking defects, and working closely with developers and product managers to keep quality high in a fast-moving retail environment.

What you’ll do
• Perform static testing to catch defects early in the development lifecycle
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases
• Execute manual test cases, analyse results and give clear, actionable feedback
• Report and track bugs and defects with detailed documentation
• Maintain the test environment and its data
• Provide standby after-hours application support on a rotational basis for critical systems
• Collaborate with developers, product managers and other stakeholders on requirements and quality standards

What you’ll bring
• 2+ years in software quality assurance or testing
• A strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

Advantageous
• Experience with JIRA or similar bug-tracking tools
• Familiarity with SQL queries, and API testing (Postman or SoapUI)
• Testing experience in retail, FMCG or supply chain
• ISTQB certification, and strong technical-writing skills

Working model
Hybrid, based in Cape Town, with some in-office days.
