Group Financial Accountant

About the role
We’re working with a fast-growing global insurtech business that provides innovative insurance solutions to partners across several international markets. As they grow in both existing and new markets, they’re expanding the finance team and looking for an analytical Chartered Accountant, CA(SA), to support the CFO with the accounting and reporting function across several group legal entities, and to help drive growth with strong financial insight.
Your primary focus will be the accuracy and completeness of the day-to-day finance function, management accounts, forecasting, and overall internal and external financial reporting. Support on tax compliance and regulatory quality control will be a key part of the role.
What you’ll do
Accounting
• Ensure all recorded entries, particularly the monthly results from underwriting partners, are prepared to accepted accounting standards
• Continuously implement financial systems and best practice
• Support the CFO with annual budgeting, cash flow forecasts, financial statement preparation and audit, and tax structuring and compliance
• Manage relationships with outsourced in-country accounting firms across the group
• Prepare the monthly and annual regional reports used in group consolidation
Reporting
• Keep up to date with and ensure compliance across all financial and insurance regulatory requirements
• Support the CFO on regulatory and tax reporting and other submissions
• Deliver monthly reporting to white-label and other distribution partners
• Report monthly on insurance KPIs, including loss ratios, acquisition costs, retention rate, and customer sales
• Handle monthly management reporting and help prepare board and shareholder slides
• Provide detailed explanations on reconciled items, particularly between the policy administration system, banking, and accounting systems for premiums and claims
Strategy and financial analysis
• Analyze large, complex financial and operational data sets to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights
• Use AI tools and automation to improve finance operations, reporting accuracy, forecasting, and efficiency
• Support strategic initiatives including M&A, financial modelling, valuations, and transaction analysis
• Assist with financial and operational due diligence, including data analysis, risk assessment, and findings for stakeholders
• Collaborate across finance, operations, technology, and commercial teams on strategic projects
What you’ll bring
• A newly qualified CA(SA), or up to 3 years post-articles experience
• Exposure to the insurance or financial services industry (required)
• Specific exposure to life insurance, short-term insurance, or other financial services is preferred
• Strong understanding of financial services and insurance regulatory compliance
• Experience supporting CFO functions across regulatory, tax, and statutory reporting
• Ability to prepare accurate monthly reporting for partners, stakeholders, and distribution channels
• Knowledge of insurance KPI reporting (loss ratios, retention, acquisition costs, sales performance)
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills across policy administration, banking, and accounting systems
• Experience using AI tools and automation to improve finance operations
• Exposure to financial modelling, valuations, M&A, and transaction analysis
