A payments technology company in Cape Town is looking for an Intermediate Java Developer to join its growing engineering team. This is a hybrid role.
You’ll work across the full delivery cycle — building integrations with client and third-party systems, designing and building new functionality, enhancing and maintaining existing systems, and resolving third-line technical queries. It is hands-on backend work on secure, high-volume transaction systems, with room to improve how the team builds.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain integrations with client and third-party systems
- Design and develop new functionality
- Enhance and maintain current systems
- Development testing, system security and audits
- Third-line query resolution
- Improve development techniques and processes
What you’ll need
- A tertiary qualification (or equivalent training) in software development, computer science or engineering
- 3–8 years’ hands-on development experience
- Java (Standard and Enterprise editions) and Spring Boot
- SQL (MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL)
- A modern build and version-control workflow (Maven, Git) in a continuous integration and testing environment
- Comfortable with REST / OpenAPI-based integrations
Nice to have
- Exposure to financial transaction processing systems
- Multi-threaded, high-volume, real-time systems
- Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban)
- Front-end experience with Angular
