A healthcare organisation in Cape Town is looking for a Mobile App Developer to join its technical team on a major systems-renewal project. The work is cross-platform web and mobile applications built with Angular and Capacitor on the Ionic UI framework.
You’ll design, develop, test and deploy enterprise and client-facing applications where the user experience genuinely matters — these are apps that support clinical work, not internal tooling nobody sees.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain cross-platform web and mobile applications for Android and iOS using Angular and Capacitor with Ionic
- Build responsive, high-performance UI components using Angular best practice
- Write high-quality, reusable, well-documented code and related test scripts
- Apply object-oriented principles so the code stays scalable and maintainable
- Debug, test and optimise for both web and mobile
- Work closely with backend teams to integrate REST APIs
- Generate and manage builds in Android Studio and Xcode, and publish to the Google Play and Apple App stores
- Provide estimates, deliver on time, review code and support applications as escalated from operational teams
What you’ll need
- At least 5 years of mobile development experience
- Solid experience with recent Angular
- Hands-on Capacitor and Ionic
- Experience building and deploying both Android and iOS apps
- Good understanding of mobile UI/UX design principles
- Ability to troubleshoot mobile-specific performance and compatibility issues
- Knowledge of security best practice, and a comprehensive understanding of Agile/Scrum
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent qualification
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
Nice to have
- CouchDB or equivalent for offline access
- Git, Jenkins, Docker, Flyway and Jira
- KeyCloak setup and integration
- Experience with, or interest in, building on native AWS services
- Strong time and complexity estimation
