We’re working with an established data and analytics company, and they’re looking for a Senior Analytical Engineer to design, build and optimise the analytical data models and systems that power data-driven decisions across the business.
The role bridges data engineering and analytics — turning raw data into reliable, well-modelled, performance-optimised datasets for reporting, BI and advanced analytics. You’ll also provide acting team-lead cover and are expected to grow into a team-lead role over time.
What you’ll do
• Design, develop, maintain and optimise scalable analytical data models and systems
• Implement data-transformation logic and automate workflows
• Ensure data quality and governance standards
• Translate complex business requirements into structured, reusable data solutions
• Drive scalability, automation and continuous improvement to best-practice standards
What you’ll bring
• 7+ years’ experience in a relevant field
• Automation experience using SQL, Python and Power Automate
• Advanced SQL (dynamic queries, performance and optimisation) and advanced Python
• Relational database design, data modelling and data warehousing
• Microsoft Azure, and advanced Power BI and reporting
• Git workflows, SDLC methodologies and exposure to CI/CD
• A bachelor’s or master’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
Advantageous
• SAS coding
• Team-leadership experience, and a passion for mentoring and growing a team
Working model
Hybrid, based in Johannesburg or Pretoria (in office during probation).
