We’re working with an established travel technology company, and they’re looking for a Senior Back-End Developer to design, build and maintain the scalable, high-performance systems behind its travel platforms.
You’ll be a hands-on developer with strong integration experience, a passion for clean, maintainable code, and a focus on reliable, production-ready systems.
What you’ll do
• Design, develop and maintain back-end services and APIs
• Build and support high-volume, scalable systems used in travel booking and related platforms
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrations with third-party providers (e.g. GDS, payment gateways, suppliers)
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product teams and stakeholders on end-to-end solutions
• Ensure performance, security and reliability, and troubleshoot and optimise existing systems
• Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD and deployment, and maintain clear documentation and code reviews
What you’ll bring
• Around 8–10 years in software development (back-end focused)
• Strong C# / .NET (ASP.NET Core preferred), REST API design, MS SQL Server (design and performance tuning) and LINQ
• Solid JSON/XML, web-services integration (SOAP & REST) and microservices architecture
• Git, CI/CD (preferably Azure DevOps), secure coding, Azure Logic Apps and Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, API Management)
• Proven experience on integration-heavy systems
• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent
Advantageous
• Messaging queues (Service Bus, RabbitMQ), IIS configuration, and front-end basics (HTML, JS, CSS, Vue)
• Travel-industry integrations (e.g. Amadeus, Travelport, Sabre), payment gateways and high-availability systems
• ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Sage), and data security / compliance (POPIA, GDPR, PCI DSS)
Working model
Hybrid — mostly remote for Cape Town-based candidates, with office options in Cape Town or Johannesburg.
