A small, growing business is looking for a hands-on Senior Bookkeeper to take full ownership of its finance function. This is a standalone, full-function role — not a cog in a large finance team. You’ll run the books end to end, handle the day-to-day money movement, and keep a lean operation running smoothly.
The right person has done real bookkeeping in a business environment, works independently without close supervision, and is comfortable being the go-to person for finance in the business.
What you’ll own
- Invoice processing and preparation of monthly accounts
- Bank account management and loading of payments
- Debtor management — following up and keeping the ledger clean
- Payroll processing
- VAT preparation and submissions
- Processing and reconciliations on Pastel
- General finance administration and month-end
- Office and operational support across the business
What you’ll need
- At least two years’ commercial bookkeeping experience in a business environment, gained after completing your articles
- Completed articles in a financial background — SAIPA, CIMA or SAICA
- Hands-on invoice processing, debtor management and payment loading
- Pastel proficiency, and comfort across payroll and VAT
- The ability to work fully independently across both finance and office support

Someone who has been the finance backbone of a smaller business and enjoyed it — self-directed, takes ownership without being asked twice, and is as comfortable chasing a debtor as closing off a VAT return.
In-office. Durban preferred (also open to Cape Town or Johannesburg). Permanent.
