We’re working with an established technology consultancy, and they’re looking for a Senior Google Cloud Engineer to join its cloud engineering team, delivering for enterprise clients.
You’ll work across Google Cloud infrastructure, security, networking and platform services, and partner with development teams on workload modernisation, migrations, resiliency and scalability. It suits an engineer with strong GCP foundations who can help build secure, well-governed cloud environments.
What you’ll do
• Design, implement and support Google Cloud environments and landing zones aligned to best practice
• Build well-structured network architectures — VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, Cloud VPN and hybrid connectivity, and Cloud DNS
• Apply governance with the resource hierarchy (organisations, folders, projects), Organisation Policy, IAM roles and labelling standards
• Manage Cloud IAM and identity, least-privilege access, and secrets in Secret Manager
• Work across GCP compute and data services (Compute Engine, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Monitoring/Logging, Backup and DR)
• Support migrations and modernisation with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
What you’ll bring
• 5+ years in cloud, infrastructure or platform engineering
• Strong hands-on Google Cloud experience — networking, IAM and security, landing zones, governance and resource organisation
• Experience designing well-structured, multi-project GCP environments
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• A good understanding of application architectures (monoliths, microservices, event-driven, APIs) and software-engineering fundamentals
Working model
Hybrid in Johannesburg — three days a week in the office.
