A payments technology company is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join its growing engineering team. This is a hybrid role based in Cape Town, with flexibility for remote work for the right person.
You’ll take a lead, hands-on role across the delivery cycle — building integrations with client and third-party systems, designing and building new functionality, enhancing and maintaining existing systems, resolving third-line queries, and mentoring other developers. The work is backend-heavy on secure, high-volume, real-time transaction systems.

- Development testing, system security and audits
- Third-line query resolution
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to the team
- Improve development techniques and processes
What you’ll need
- A tertiary qualification (or equivalent training) in software development, computer science or engineering
- 8+ years’ hands-on development experience
- Java (Standard and Enterprise editions) and Spring Boot
- SQL (MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL)
- A modern build and version-control workflow (Maven, Git) in a continuous integration and testing environment
- Comfortable with REST / OpenAPI-based integrations
Nice to have
- Exposure to financial transaction processing systems
- Multi-threaded, high-volume, real-time systems
- Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban)
- Front-end experience with Angular
