Tech Ops Specialist
Location: Cape Town (remote, occasional on-site)
Type: Permanent
Experience: 2+ years
About the role
We’re working with a focused, fast-growing business at the intersection of technology and travel. They partner with hotels, lodges, and tour operators across Africa to configure and integrate the systems that run their businesses, and they’re at a pivotal scaling moment.
This role sits at the centre of their technical operations: keeping client data flowing, keeping the senior team unblocked, and keeping tech partners aligned and moving forward. It’s a hands-on technical operational role, not a platform-build role. You’ll come in with enough experience to take ownership from day one, scoping new integration requirements, coordinating integration projects, and operating independently without close supervision. A key part of the job is acting as the link between the internal team and external tech partners, tracking active projects and making sure nothing falls through the gaps.
You’ll be based in Cape Town, working predominantly from home, alongside the operations and configuration team.
What you’ll do
First-line technical support
• Be the first point of contact for flow failures and workflow errors across client systems
• Monitor daily error reports, triage issues, and manage the support board
• Resolve known issues using documented SOPs and escalate anything outside them
• Handle workflow-specific support for key client accounts after onboarding
Data workflow management
• Own day-to-day monitoring of data flow logs
• Spot patterns in recurring failures and flag them for SOP creation or escalation
• Work with the senior team to improve data integrity across client environments
Tech partner coordination
• Act as the primary link between the team and external tech partners and developers
• Track active integration and development projects and follow up on open items
• Keep progress visible: update trackers, flag blockers, close out completed items
• Reduce delays by making sure external partners have what they need to move forward
SOP creation and management
• Create and maintain SOPs for recurring technical support issues
• Document resolutions for common workflow failures so they can be repeated without escalation
• Build a resource library of processes, guides, and reference material
Integration product custodianship
• Serve as the internal custodian of the company’s integration products
• Build and maintain a thorough working knowledge of each: how it functions, how it’s configured, how it connects to client systems
• Keep all integration products fully and accurately documented for the wider team
Project scoping and API investigation
• Do the preliminary technical prep on custom integration projects before they reach the senior dev team
• Review API documentation, map data fields, pull sample data, and produce a consolidated technical brief
• Document edge cases and open questions clearly so the senior team can scope with full context
Internal development (after a 3–6 month onboarding)
• Support internal API connection projects, such as Asana-to-HubSpot integrations
• Test connections, run investigations, and support internal tooling improvements
What you’ll bring
• At least 2 years of hands-on technical experience (this isn’t a graduate or intern role); you’ve applied your skills in a real working environment and can operate independently from day one
• Prior development experience or hands-on work with technical applications
• Solid understanding of how APIs work, how to read API documentation, and how to interpret data outputs
• Comfortable using AI tools daily as a standard part of how you work
• Strong coordination: managing communication with external partners and keeping projects moving without being chased
• An investigative mindset; you enjoy figuring things out and digging into detail
• Able to learn new systems quickly and adapt in a fast-moving environment
• A working understanding of CRM systems: how they’re structured, how data flows, how they connect to other platforms
• System-agnostic: even though HubSpot is the main CRM, this suits anyone systems-focused who can transfer skills across tools like Asana, Zoho, JotForm, and other connected platforms
• Hands-on experience with webhook setup, data mapping, or API testing tools
• Based in Cape Town or surrounding areas, with in-person availability
Nice to have
• Understanding of reservation or hospitality systems
What you’ll get
• Full onboarding and training across all systems, products, and processes
• Direct mentorship from senior technical and operations leads
• Hands-on experience with real client systems from day one
• A clear growth path as your skills develop
