We’re working with an established, purpose-driven organisation, and they’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join its product team — someone equally comfortable in a SQL database and a product roadmap session.
The role covers projects focused on developing and implementing AI and machine-learning solutions on the organisation’s platform, including a recommendation engine.
What you’ll do
• Help stakeholders across the organisation define and refine their needs, clarifying the problems they’re solving
• Facilitate cross-team problem-solving to refine solution designs
• Perform deep-dive analysis — writing complex SQL to extract data from multiple sources, and validating and testing solution designs
• Translate analysis into development-ready specifications (user stories, functional specs)
• Trace data lineage across systems and perform root-cause analysis
What you’ll bring
• 5+ years as a Technical Business Analyst, Data Product Owner or Data Analyst
• Proficiency in complex SQL (CTEs, window functions, joins) to extract insight from relational databases
• Proven independent data analysis and root-cause analysis across systems
• Experience working with development teams using Agile, Scrum or Kanban
• Google BigQuery experience
• A strong grasp of probability, hypothesis testing and exploratory data analysis (EDA)
• Experience implementing (or a strong interest in) machine learning / AI in systems
• An undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Statistics or Computer Science
Advantageous
• A postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Statistics or a related quantitative field
Working model
Hybrid, based in Cape Town or Johannesburg — one day a week in the office.
