We’re working with an established insurtech company — a software provider to the insurance industry — and they’re looking for a Technical Writer to create clear, user-friendly documentation for its products.
Working with developers and other subject-matter experts, you’ll turn complex technical detail into documentation that clarifies each product’s specifications, features and benefits for the right audience.
What you’ll do
• Source product information and build an in-depth understanding of the product and its documentation needs
• Research and gather information from subject-matter experts, and outline, organise and develop technical documents, manuals and process documentation
• Produce high-quality, audience-appropriate documentation — text, diagrams, workflows and visuals
• Create user-friendly product documentation covering features, how to use them and their benefits
• Create configuration-support documents and manuals
• Review and refine existing technical documents
What you’ll bring
• 3–5 years’ experience as a Technical Writer or similar in a software-development environment
• Experience creating technical documents for software products (text, diagrams, workflows, visuals)
• A portfolio of your technical-writing work
• A good understanding of the SDLC and software development
• Documentation tools (Confluence, Notion or similar) and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io or similar)
• Strong MS Office, and excellent writing, editing and research skills
• A degree, diploma or certification, with solid relevant experience
Working model
Hybrid in Cape Town — two days a week in the office.
